Viewing assets

You can view image, video, audio, and 3D assets. See Viewing asset previews for more information.

Open an asset to view it and information about it. You can open assets from the list of recent assets on the home page, when browsing assets, or from a collection in a project.

You can also perform actions on an asset when you view it.

  1. Click the asset to work with.

    The asset opens.

    • If the asset file type is not available for preview, click Download to download it.
    • If the asset file is too large to display, click Download to download it or Load anyway to load it, which may take several minutes.
    Tip

    When an asset is archived in Helix Core Server, you cannot perform any actions on it. Archived assets are marked as Archived in the Helix DAM asset Version list. See Archived assets.

    Actions available when viewing an asset from a collection

    Download the version of the asset you are viewing Click and select Download current version --

    Change the asset status Click the current status and in the Change status menu select the new status Changing status in an open asset
    Add or remove tags on the asset Click the Manage tags button or the Add tags button next to the tags Adding tags to assets and Removing tags from assets

    Zoom in or out on the asset

    Click + or - on the asset zoom control at the bottom right of the asset --
    Hide all comment circles on the asset Click the Hide comments toggle on the asset zoom control --
    View, add, or reply to comments on the asset Click Comments Adding comments to assets and Viewing asset comments
    View, add, edit, copy, or delete related links for the asset Click Links Working with links on assets
    View additional information about the asset including the filename, URL, depot path, author, and metadata Click Asset details Viewing asset details and metadata

Previewing 3D files

When you preview a 3D file, you can:

  • Rotate, move, and zoom in and out on the file.

  • Create a new preview image.

    Move the 3D image to the position to show in the thumbnail preview on the collection page. Select Controls > Preview controls and then click Create preview. The thumbnail on the collection page is updated.

  • Add comments to the file. See Adding comments to assets.
