Private projects
Private projects restrict visibility of project data and activity.
When a project is private, only the following users can see it:
-
Project owners
-
Project moderators
-
Project members
-
Users with super privileges
Private projects are identified by an eye icon.
Important behavior
Private projects limit visibility, but they do not override P4 Server protections.
-
Users with access to depot paths can still view files and changes directly in the depot.
-
Use P4 Server protections to restrict file access if required.
Reviews and private projects
-
Users can create reviews that include files from private projects.
-
Users who are not project members, owners, moderators, or do not have super privileges cannot participate in those reviews.
If a user is added to a review but does not have access (for example, via an Links in descriptions and comments in a description or comment, or by being added as a participant):
-
They cannot view the review, its files, or its comments.
-
They might still receive email notifications due to system limitations.
Notifications for private projects are filtered to remove references to those projects.
