Linking projects to Helix Core Server streams

Note

Helix DAM can manage assets held in your existing Helix Core Server streams by linking them to projects in Helix DAM. Stream linking can be used for projects created with auto depot creation disabled, see Creating projects. Helix DAM does not support linking for Task streams and Virtual streams. For information on streams, see the Streams section of the Helix Core Overview.

When you link a project to a mainline stream, the stream is displayed in the Helix DAM project as a repository. You can select which individual streams to show in the project repository. The individual streams are displayed in the repository as collections.

Tip

When linking a stream to a project it can be useful to view the streams in the Helix Core Visual Client (P4V) Streams Graph tab, see the Using the Stream Graph section of the Helix Core Visual Client (P4V) Guide.

  1. Open the project to link a mainline stream to.

  2. Click Link to depots at the top right of the page below your avatar.

  3. Select Link to stream depot from the dropdown menu.

  4. The Link to stream dialog opens in the Set up path tab.

  5. Select the Helix Core depot that the stream to link to is in.

All of the depots you have permission to view are displayed in the dropdown. Search by typing the depot name you want to link to in the search box.

  6. Select the Helix Core mainline (mainline stream) you want to link to.

All of the streams you have permission to view are displayed in the dropdown. Search by typing the stream name to link to in the search box.

  7. Enter a Helix DAM repository display name for the Helix DAM repository. The name cannot contain any spaces or special characters, but it can contain the minus (-) and underscore (_) characters.

  8. Click Continue.

    The Manage streams tab opens.

  9. Select the individual streams (collections) to display in the Helix DAM project repository.

At least one stream must be selected. By default, the mainline stream is selected.

  10. Click Save changes.

The repository is added to the project and up to four collections are displayed in the new repository. To see all of the collections in the repository, click on the repository to expand it.
