Creating projects
A Helix DAM project contains a collection of assets you can work on yourself or with a team. For example, a project may contain all assets for a specific game.
Use a project to limit access to assets to only those who need access. You can invite team members to the project after you create it.
-
Click Projects on the home page.
The Projects page opens.
-
Click on the right side of the page.
The Create new project dialog box opens.
-
Enter the Project name.
-
Click to assign a color to the project.
The color is used on the icon for the projects and can help others easily find it in the list of projects.
-
Depending on the Helix DAM settings, the Automatically create Helix Core depot toggle may be displayed. It is turned on by default, but you can turn it off.
-
If the toggle is on when the project is created, the corresponding depots and streams are automatically created on Helix Core Server to store Helix DAM assets. To work with assets in Helix DAM, you must create collections and upload assets to them. To learn more, see Creating collections and Adding assets to collections.
-
If the toggle is off or not displayed when the project is created, no depots or streams are created on Helix Core Server. You must link to an existing Helix Core stream or classic depot that contains assets to work with them in Helix DAM. To learn more, see Linking projects to Helix Core Server streams and Linking projects to Helix Core Server classic depots.
If you are a Helix DAM company or project admin, to learn more about the company settings that control the availability of the Automatically create Helix Core depot toggle, see Choosing how to store Helix DAM assets in Helix Core.
-
-
Click Create.
The project is created and the Assets page opens.
You can access all projects you have permission to work with from the Projects area. See Working with projects.
Where to go next
After the project is created, you are prompted to either link to existing Helix Core streams, link to a Helix Core classic depot, or create collections depending on the Helix DAM company settings and whether you turned the Automatically create Helix Core depot toggle off or on when creating the project.
-
To learn more about linking to existing streams, see Linking projects to Helix Core Server streams.
-
To learn more about linking to existing classic depots, see Linking projects to Helix Core Server classic depots.
