Configure AI
Administrators can configure AI-powered features in P4 Code Review by setting up AI vendors, models, and prompts for use throughout the organization.
Administrator-managed AI vendors provide shared AI services that can be used by multiple users. Depending on your organization's AI policies, users can also configure their own Personal AI vendors.

Overview
P4 Code Review supports AI-powered features that help users review code, generate explanations for code changes, improve comments, and automate AI-assisted workflows.
Administrators can configure organization-managed AI vendors and control which AI services are available to users.
AI configuration includes:
-
Configuring AI vendors
-
Configuring AI models
-
Configuring AI prompts
-
Managing AI credentials
-
Enabling or disabling AI features
Configured AI vendors can then be used by supported AI features throughout P4 Code Review.
Configure AI vendors
AI vendors are configured in the P4 Code Review user interface.
Administrator-managed AI vendors are configured in System Information > Configuration > AI Configuration.
When enabled by an administrator, users can configure Personal AI vendors in My Profile > AI Vendors.
Administrator-managed AI vendors
Administrators can configure AI vendors for use across P4 Code Review. These vendor configurations are shared and can be used by multiple users without requiring each user to configure their own credentials.
Administrator-managed AI vendors are useful when your organization wants to provide centralized access to approved AI services.
Administrators can:
-
Configure shared AI vendors.
-
Define AI models.
-
Configure prompts.
-
Control AI availability.
-
Manage approved AI services for users.
To learn more, see AI Configuration (System information).
Personal AI vendors
Users can configure their own Personal AI vendors in their profile settings.
A Personal AI vendor allows a user to:
-
Use their own AI credentials.
-
Configure their own AI models.
-
Customize prompts.
-
Connect to AI services that support their workflow.
When a user has configured a Personal AI vendor for a vendor type, that vendor is used for the user's AI actions.
If the user has not configured a Personal AI vendor for a vendor type, the administrator-managed AI vendor is used instead.
To learn more, see Per-user AI vendors (bring your own key).
How administrator-managed and Personal AI vendors work together
Administrator-managed AI vendors and personal AI vendors are available together.
For example:
-
Administrator configures a Gemini vendor.
-
User configures a Gemini vendor with a custom prompt.
-
User configures a Claude vendor.
-
User configures an LM Studio vendor.
When using AI-powered features, the user can choose from the available vendors configured for their account.
Personal AI vendor settings apply only to that user and do not affect other users.
This allows organizations to provide shared AI services while still allowing users to configure additional AI vendors for their own workflows.
