Add comments to specific areas of image, audio, and video files

You can add comments to specific areas on a 2D image, video, or audio files to provide in-context feedback. Comments are shown where you add them on the file so others can understand the specific area you have feedback on.

Add comments to specific area of an asset

  1. Open the asset in a project. See Browse projects.
  2. Click Comments to view existing comments, including the user who commented and when. To learn more about changing the comments shown and the asset view, see View comments.

    If the right panel is hidden, click the Show right panel button Image of the Show right panel button at the bottom of the panel.

  3. To comment on a previous asset version, select the version to comment on in the list next to the asset filename. Comments are applied to the current version of the asset by default.

  4. Add your comment to the asset.

    • Image asset: Double-click the area to comment on and enter your comments.

    • Video or audio asset: Pause the video or audio where to leave a comment, select the elapsed time check box to indicate the comment is about a specific part, and enter your comments in the Add a comment field.

      To notify a team member about the comment, enter @ and the first few letters of their name. Matching users are shown. Select the user and they are added to the comment. For example @joe-designer. The user will see a notification in P4 DAM.
  5. Click Add.

    Your comment is added to the Comments tab.

    • If you commented on an image, a blue circle is shown on the asset where you added the comment.

    • If you added a comment on an audio or video asset, a link to the specific time where you added the comment is shown next to the comment. Click the link to go to the specific time in the file.

Add comments to specific area of an item in an asset bundle

  1. Open an asset bundle item in a project. See Browse projects.

  2. Click Comments to view existing comments, including the user who commented and when. To learn more about changing the comments shown and the asset view, see View comments.

  3. Add your comment to the asset bundle item.

    • Image asset: Double-click the area to comment on and enter your comments.
