Link a project to a P4 Server stream

P4 DAM can manage assets held in your existing P4 Server streams by linking them to projects in P4 DAM after creating a project. See Create a project. P4 DAM does not support linking for task streams and virtual streams. To learn more, see Streams in P4 Visual Client (P4V) Documentation.

When you link a project to a mainline stream, the stream is displayed in the P4 DAM project as a repository. You can select which individual streams to show in the project repository. The individual streams are displayed in the repository as collections.

When linking a stream to a project, it can be useful to view the streams in the P4 Visual Client (P4V) on Streams Graph tab. See Stream Graph in the P4 Visual Client (P4V) Documentation.
  1. Open the project you want to link a mainline stream to.

  2. Below your avatar, click Link to depots and click Link to stream depot.

  3. On the Set up path tab in the Link to stream dialog box, select the P4 depot that the stream you want to link to is in.

All depots you have permission to view are displayed in the list. Search by typing the depot name to link to in the search box.

  4. Select the P4 mainline (mainline stream) you want to link to.

All streams you have permission to view are displayed in the list. Search by typing the stream name to link to in the search box.

  5. Enter a P4 DAM repository display name for the P4 DAM repository. The name cannot contain any spaces or special characters, but it can contain the minus (-) and underscore (_) characters.

  6. Click Next.

  7. On the Manage streams tab, select the streams (collections) to display in the P4 DAM project repository.

At least one stream must be selected. By default, the mainline stream is selected.

  8. Click Finish.

The repository is added to the project and up to four collections are displayed in the new repository. To see all collections in the repository, click the repository to expand it.
