Create a project

A P4 DAM project contains a collection of assets you can work on yourself or with a team. For example, a project may contain all assets for a specific game. See Projects.

Use a project to limit access to assets to only those who need it. You can invite team members to the project after you create it.

  1. On the home page, on the right side of the My projects section, click View all projects.

    The All projects page opens.

  2. Click Create project.

The Create new project dialog box opens.

  3. Enter the Project name.

  4. Select a color to assign to the project.

The color is used on the icon for the project and can help others find it in the list of projects.

  5. If Project type options are not displayed, skip to step 6 to create the project.

If Project type options are displayed, select a type.

    • Standard project does not create depots and streams on P4 Server when the project is created. You must link to an existing P4 stream or classic depot that contains assets to work with them in P4 DAM. To learn more, see Link a project to a P4 Server stream and Link a project to a P4 Server classic depot.

    • Quick start project automatically creates the corresponding depots and streams on P4 Server to store P4 DAM assets when the project is created. You can use this project type for trial setups and demonstrations. After creating the project, you must create collections and upload assets to them. To learn more, see Create a collection and Add assets to collections.

    • The Project type options that are displayed depend on the P4 DAM Company settings. If you are a P4 DAM company or project administrator, you can choose how to store P4 DAM assets in P4 Server. To learn more, see Choose how to store P4 DAM assets in P4.
  6. Click Create.

    The project is created.

Where to go next

After you create the project, you are prompted to either link it to existing P4 streams or a classic depot, or create collections. The options you see depend on the Project type you selected and your company's P4 DAM settings.
