To set the annotation visibility:

To make invisible annotations visible, select the appropriate annotation check box in the Map Layers pane; the annotations are redisplayed in the Map View.

To make annotations invisible, clear the appropriate annotation check box in the Map Layers pane; the annotations are removed from the Map View.
