You can add an item link to create a connection between two P4 Plan items.
1. Copy one or more P4 Plan items to your clipboard. See Copying links to items for more information.
2. Select an item in the Product Backlog, Quality Assurance, or Planning view.
The Linked to item section at the bottom is updated to show links related to the selected item.
At this point, you can create a link with default settings by right-clicking the item and clicking Add link from clipboard. Alternatively, you can select Link to items, at which point you are prompted to right-click the item to which you want to create a link. If you use either of these methods, the item link is created with default settings, which you can change. For instructions, see Editing an item link.
3. Click Add New Link.
4. Click the arrow next to the URL field and select Add link from clipboard.
To specify the relation between the linked items, in the Relation field, select an option:
- Related to - Indicates a symmetrical relation between the linked items. This is the default option, and old links will be automatically converted to this relation type.
- Blocked By or Blocks - Indicates that one of the items is blocking the other. When either is applied to one item in the link, the opposite relation is automatically assigned to the other.
- Duplicated By or Duplicates - Indicates that one of the items is a duplicate of the other. When either is applied to one item in the link, the opposite relation is automatically assigned to the other.
All relations are used only used to convey information and do not affect functionality.
5. Optionally, use the Notes field to add additional information about the link.
The note is applied to all items in the link.
6. Click Link to save.
