New Features

The following new features have been added to Views 7.2:

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) support

Views 7.2 introduces support for SVG images. SVG is an XML-based vector image format for defining two-dimensional graphics. We have added the ability to display SVG images in places where Views draws bitmaps from PNGs or JPGs.

ILXML Library

The ILXML library (XML parser and a basic DOM implementation), which was previously shipped only with the Visualization Server has been added to Views.

Views Studio CSS Support

The ability to style Views Studio created forms with cascading style sheets (CSS) has been added in Views 7.2. See the Styling Views Gadgets with CSS section for details.

Visualization Server .NET Framework Upgrade

The C# connector to .NET in the Visualization Server has been recompiled to use .NET Core 8.0. The new .NET Core performs a lot faster than the old version.

Platform Changes

• Views 7.2 now supports RHEL 9/CentOS 9. For details, see the Compilation section.

• Support for Windows Server 2022, MSVS 2022, and Solaris 11 was added in the Views 7.2 release.

Third-party library updates

The following third-party libraries used by Views were updated in this release to avoid any known security vulnerabilities in previous versions.

• zlib — Updated to version 1.3.1.

Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements

Numerous bug fixes and performance improvements have been made to Views in this release.
