About the USRP Format

The UTM/UPS Standardized Raster Product (USRP) format is a map format for scanned maps, which is published by the The Digital Geographic Information Exchange Standard (DIGEST).

The USRP readers provided in this package are based on specification document "THE UTM/UPS STANDARD RASTER PRODUCT SPECIFICATION" Edition 1.3 of August 1997.

Basically, a USRP file contains a single scanned map, transformed to either a Universal Polar Stereographic (polar regions) or a Universal Transverse Mercator (rest of the world) frame of reference.
