What’s new in the P4 CLI Reference
Helix Core is now P4
Perforce has a new look and logo that reflects our place in DevOps workflows. As part of these changes, Helix Core is now P4. Name updates and new icons to align with the P4 branding will be rolled out soon. To learn more, see Re-Introducing P4.
Prevent files in your workspace from being placeholders
Keep synced and reverted files local to your workspace. To prevent these files from becoming placeholders, without creating a hotfile mapping, select the Don't free download files on sync/revert checkbox in the P4VFS dialog box. To learn more, see Specify hotfiles that don't create placeholders.
Support synced and reverted files as hotfiles in custom applications
In custom applications using the P4ALTSYNC protocol, you can now treat hydrated files as hotfiles. This ensures that files are not freed when they are synced or reverted. To learn more, see Persistent hydration.
2024.2 release
-
P4 VFS is now fully supported, and is not longer a "Technology Preview".
-
You can specify that certain files be fully synced rather than creating placeholders. The hotfiles feature requires a 24.2 server and a 24.2 client. To learn more, see Specify hotfiles that don't create placeholders.
