Work with asset bundles

An asset bundle is a way of grouping assets that are related. The specific relationship is up to you. For example, you might put all the components of a video game character in the same asset bundle, or you might put all aspects of a particular movie scene in the same asset bundle.

Unlike projects, collections, and folders, an asset bundle is not a container for assets. Instead, an asset bundle defines a set of assets that should be looked at together. This means, for example, that assets contained in different folders could be part of the same asset bundle.

Asset bundles are not mutually exclusive. For example, an asset bundle can share multiple assets, and an asset bundle can contain other asset bundles.

To view and work with asset bundles in a project, you must be a member of the project. Actions you can perform are limited by your P4 Server permissions. Contact your P4 DAM project administrator for help.

Find asset bundles

To find existing asset bundles in P4 DAM, you can:

  • Search for asset bundles by name. Searching is typically the easiest way to find what you need. Asset bundles can be searched for in the same way as assets. See Search for assets.
  • Browse collections in projects. See Browse collections.
  • Browse all assets in P4 DAM. See Browse assets.
