Change the automatic depot creation company setting

Before your team starts using P4 DAM, decide how to store P4 DAM assets in P4. You can choose to automatically create P4 depots and mainline streams when projects are created in P4 DAM, or to manually link P4 DAM projects to existing P4 depots and display their contents in P4 DAM. Before making a decision, review Choose how to store P4 DAM assets in P4.

After making a decision, update the company settings to turn automatic depot creation on or off for all P4 DAM projects in the company. If you also use Perforce TeamHub, keep in mind that the Automatic depot creation company setting also applies to TeamHub.

You must be a company administrator to change company settings.

1. From P4 DAM, click your avatar and click Company details.

   The Company details pane opens.

2. Click Settings.

   The Settings pane opens.

3. Choose how to handle automatic depot creation.

   • To let users choose to either automatically create P4 depots and mainline streams, or manually link to streams or a classic depot after creating a project, toggle Automatically create depot on. This option is turned on by default. When this option is turned on, Project type options are displayed in the Create new project dialog box. See Create a project.

   • To prevent users from choosing automatic depot creation when creating projects, toggle Automatically create depot off . When this option is turned off, Project type options are not displayed in the Create new project dialog box. Users must manually link the new project to a P4 stream or classic depot after creating the project.
