Rename an asset

You can rename an asset to use a different name.

When an asset is locked in P4 Server, the asset is also locked in P4 DAM. Locked assets show a lock icon by the asset name. See Locked assets.

  1. Open the project and collection that contains the asset.

  2. Select the asset to open it.

  3. Select the vertical ellipsis button and Select Rename.

    The Rename asset dialog opens.

  4. Enter the New asset name. Include the file extension. The name must be 1024 characters or less.

  5. In the Changelist description, enter the reason the change was made (optional). The description appears in the Asset details tab.

  6. Select Rename.

    The asset is renamed.
