Add related links to assets

You can now add links such as links to Jira issues, Confluence pages, and others to assets. For example, this is helpful for teams that use issue tracking software and want to associate assets with related issues.

Upload asset previews

Asset previews are images that show the contents of assets. They are displayed when you view an asset, view thumbnails on the home page, browse assets, and in collections in a project. Helix DAM uses Helix Search to generate asset previews. If a preview cannot be generated, Helix DAM shows a default icon for the file type. If you have an image you want to use for the preview, you can now upload an image.

Show or hide the Kanban board

A company admin or project admin can choose to show or hide the built-in Kanban board.

Release details

Before you install or upgrade: P4 DAM is built on top of Perforce TeamHub. To install or upgrade P4 DAM, you use the Perforce TeamHub packages. Upgrading is usually a zero-downtime operation and can be performed on a live system. Before upgrading, review the following information, including any release-specific upgrade instructions.

This Helix DAM release does not support Elasticsearch 7. You must update your systems to Elasticsearch 8 before upgrading.

Upgrade Instructions

Searching in Helix DAM is not available during the Elasticsearch upgrade.

Before upgrading:

• Review the Elasticsearch upgrade instructions.

• Elasticsearch 8 uses authentication by default. If you do not want to use authentication, disable it (xpack.security.enabled)in the Elasticsearch configuration. To learn more, see the Elasticsearch help.

To perform the upgrade:

1. Follow steps 1 - 4 in the To upgrade a cluster’ section of the Upgrade Elasticsearch help.

2. Depending on the type of the Helix Plugin Filter installation, remove the current one using one of the following methods:

   • elasticsearch-plugin script

   elasticsearch-plugin remove p4search-filter-7.17.7

   • Your preferred package manager

   apt remove helix-plugin-filter

3. Upgrade Elasticsearch to version 8.10.2. See step 5 in the Upgrade Elasticsearch help.

4. Depending on the type of the Helix Plugin Filter installation, install the version 2023.4 or later to be compatible with the upgraded Elasticsearch version using one of the following methods:

   • elasticsearch-plugin script

   elasticsearch-plugin install file:///path/to/p4search-filter-8.10.2.zip

   • Your preferred package manager

   apt install helix-plugin-filter

5. To complete the Elasticsearch upgrade, continue with step 7 in the Upgrade Elasticsearch help.
6. Upgrade and reconfigure Helix DAM instances.
7. Perform an incremental reindex for Helix Search using the command line or web interface.

Enhancements
