Release highlights

Review 3D model animations

When working with and reviewing 3D model animations, you now have more control and visibility. You can:

  • Play, pause, and loop animations. View elapsed and total playback time.

  • Step through each animation keyframe to see how it looks and moves at specific points. View the number of the current keyframe. Add comments to individual keyframes. Create a new preview image from a specific keyframe.

  • View a specific animation within the asset to view.

This feature is currently available for .fbx files. Support for more file types will be available in future releases.

Sketch on 2D image assets

When you add a text comment to a 2D image asset (.jpg, .png, and .webp), you can now also sketch on the asset to provide context and visual feedback. Sketch using pen, highlighter, and shape tools, and change the sketch color and size.

You can show and hide sketches for each comment on the asset to focus on specific feedback.

Other enhancements

  • Improved performance when displaying lists of assets when clicking Browse assets on the home page.

  • Improved lighting on rendered 3D .fbx assets.

  • Improved performance on 3D .fbx assets. Requires installing the latest version of Helix Search.

Release details

Before you install or upgrade: P4 DAM is built on top of Perforce TeamHub. To install or upgrade P4 DAM, you use the Perforce TeamHub packages. Upgrading is usually a zero-downtime operation and can be performed on a live system. Before upgrading, review the following information, including any release-specific upgrade instructions.

New features

  • Use controls for working with 3D model animations. Play animations, pause animations, view playback time, go to the previous and next keyframe, view the number of the current keyframe, and control playback looping. Select a specific animation to review and reset to view the default animation in the model. Create a new preview image from a specific keyframe.
  • Sketch on 2D image assets to provide feedback and associate sketches with text comments. Use pen, highlighter, and shape tools in sketches. Change sketch color and size.

Enhancements

  • Redesigned the Create new project dialog box. If the ‘Automatic depot creation’ company setting is turned on, Project type options are displayed in the Create new project dialog box.
  • Improved performance when displaying lists of assets when clicking Browse assets on the home page.
  • Helix DAM sessions are now invalidated when closing the browser.
  • Hardened default ciphers for Nginx.
  • Added support for configurable rate limits.
