Setting minimum comment lengths for actions

You can set the minimum number of characters that users must enter in comment fields when performing actions. By default, comments are not required for any actions. Setting minimum comment lengths can help enforce your policy to provide comments when performing actions, which can be helpful for historical purposes.

These options apply to all branches and users, but can be overridden for specific mainline branches. See Overriding server options for specific mainline branches.

1. Choose Tools > Administration > Server Options.

The Server Options dialog box opens.

2. Select Comments from the Mainline Options category.

3. Enter the minimum number of characters required for comments for each action.

Valid values are 0-4096. If you do not want to require comments for an action, enter 0.

4. Click OK to save the changes.
