Managing users

You need to create user records before users can access Surround SCM. Keep in mind that users can be created in Surround SCM or in the Helix ALM License Server.

The Users window displays basic information about Surround SCM users and lets you manage them. Many users will not have access to this window.

To open the Users window, choose View > Users.

Perform any of the following actions. The available actions depend on your Surround SCM and license server security permissions.

  • To quickly find a user, enter a value in the Search field. Matching users are displayed as you type.
  • To show inactive users in the list, select Display inactive users.
  • To view user information, select the user and click View. See Viewing users.
  • To edit user information, select the user and click Edit. See Editing users.
  • To add a new user, click Add. See Adding users.
  • To retrieve users from the license server and add them to Surround SCM, click Retrieve Global User. See Retrieving global users.
  • To delete a user, select the user and click Delete. See Deleting users.
