Duplicating baselines
If you need to add a baseline with the same collection of items as an existing baseline, you can duplicate one to use as a starting point. The source items and link/relationship options from the source baseline are used for the new baseline, but you can make changes.
1. On the Baselines list, select the baseline to duplicate.
2. Click Duplicate.
The Duplicate Baseline dialog box opens and the Select Source Items page is displayed. Source items from the source baseline are displayed. A warning is displayed if some source items are not available to add to the new baseline based on licensing or security permissions.
Only one user can add, duplicate, or delete a baseline at a time. If another user is adding, duplicating, or deleting a baseline, the Duplicate button is not available and a message is displayed.
3. Make any changes on the Select Source Items page. See Adding baselines.
4. Click Next.
5. Make any changes on the Link Options page. See Adding baselines.
A warning is displayed if any of the filters selected in the source baseline changed, were deleted, or are not available to use for the new baseline.
6. Click Next.
7. On the Details page, enter the basic information about the baseline.
- Name — Contains the same name as the source baseline, but you can change it. You can enter up to 128 characters.
- Description — Enter a description for the baseline. You may want to include information about the baseline contents and the reason it was added. You can enter up to 255 characters.
8. Click Duplicate.
The baseline is duplicated. It may take several minutes. A progress indicator may be displayed if the baseline contains a large number of items.
9. Go to the Baselines list to view the baseline. See Using the Baselines list. If any errors occurred when duplicating the baseline, it will be displayed in the Incomplete Baselines area. See Viewing and deleting incomplete baselines.
