Accessing IPLM
This section describes how to access Perforce IPLM through IPLM Web, IPLM CLI, and the API. IPLM CLI has similar functionality to IPLM Web and the API, but with additional workspace creation and management capabilities.
Perforce IPLM clients
Perforce IPLM provides the following clients for accessing the Perforce IPLM platform:
IPLM Web
IPLM Web offers browser-based access to Perforce IPLM from any machine that has access to the server on the network. IPLM Web can be used to find information by using either the IP Catalog or the Advanced search page.
Functionality available through IPLM Web includes:
- Listing IPs in IPLM Core
- Querying IPs in the system
- Finding IPs in the system
- IP Versions (Releases)
- Creating new IPs
- IP Hierarchy
- Properties
- IP aliases
- Library management
- Fixing mistakes - IP Rename, Delete, Obliterate, rm-from-filelist
- Permissions management
IPLM CLI client for Linux/Windows
The Perforce IPLM Command Line (IPLM CLI) provides command line access for Linux and Windows to IP releases and workspaces. IPLM CLI has similar functionality to IPLM Web and the API, but with additional workspace creation and management capabilities including:
- Workspaces
- Making Workspace Releases
- Listing Workspaces
- Viewing Workspace Modifications
- Comparing IPs in the System
- Workspace Configuration
- Updating the Workspace
- Making Workspace Releases
- Querying Workspaces
- Capturing the Workspace State with Snapshots
- IP Caching
API
The Perforce IPLM API provides a high performance method to access and modify data in the Perforce IPLM server, and is the best choice for scripting or custom client development, or to integrate external systems with Perforce IPLM.
