Creating item links

You can create links that connect items to other items, external URLs and Jira webhooks.

1. Click Add New.

2. Use the Link source menu to select the type of link:

  • URL - Connects to an external URL.
  • Item - Connects to another item in the same project.
  • Jira webhooks - Connects to a Jira item using a webhook. For more information, see Jira webhooks.

3. The remaining fields change depending on the link type you selected:

  • URL - Enter the URL to which you want to create a link.
  • Item - Use the search field to find the item to which you want to link.
  • Jira webhook - Use the search field to find the Jira item to which you want to link.

4. Use the Relation type that the link represents:

  • Related to - Indicates a symmetrical relation between the linked items. This is the default option, and old links will be automatically converted to this relation type.
  • Blocked By/Blocks - Indicates that one of the items is blocking the other. When either is applied to one item in the link, the opposite relation is automatically assigned to the other.
  • Duplicated By/Duplicates - Indicates that one of the items is a duplicate of the other. When either is applied to one item in the link, the opposite relation is automatically assigned to the other.

5. Use the optional Notes field to add additional information about the link.

The note is applied to all items in the link.

6. Click Link to save.
