You can save a dashboard chart or item view as a template so you or other users can reuse it as is or as a starting point for a similar chart.
The chart information is saved in an XML file you can select when adding a chart or item view to a dashboard page. After adding a chart or item using a template, you can modify it as needed while maintaining the original settings in the template file.
1. Click Dashboards.
The Dashboards area opens.
2. Mouse over the chart or item view, click 
, and select Save template.
The Save Chart Template XML File dialog box opens.
3. Select a location to save the file in.
4. Enter a File name. The default name is ChartTemplate_ appended with the chart name. For example, ChartTemplate_Open Bugs.
Click Save.The template file is saved in the selected location in XML format. To use the template to add the chart or item view to a dashboard page, see Adding charts and item views to dashboard pages from templates.
