If you want a placeholder user to be able to log in to P4 Plan, you need to convert them to a regular user first. You can convert a placeholder user to have a full user or QA account.
1. Depending on what type of user you are, use one of the following methods:
- If you are a main manager, open the Planning view, click More, choose Placeholder users, and then choose Convert placeholder users to normal users.
- If you are an administrator, open the Admin view, then click Users, select More, and click Convert placeholder users to full user accounts.
The Convert placeholder user dialog box opens.
2. Select the users to convert.
To show all placeholder users with or without assigned tasks in the project, clear Only show users with assigned tasks in this project. To only show users with assigned tasks, select the option.
3. Click Convert users and select an option.
- Convert to full user accounts converts the selected users to full accounts, which allows them to log in to P4 Plan and use all functionality they have permission to. This requires a license.
- Convert to QA accounts converts the selected users to QA accounts, which allows them to log in to P4 Plan and report bugs without using a license. See QA user accounts.
The user is converted and moved to the Converted accounts list.
If you do not have enough available licenses for placeholder users you need to convert to full user accounts, you can upgrade your license. Click Upgrade license. See Upgrading the server license for more users for more information.
4. Click Close when you finish.
