Attaching files to items
You can attach files to any item in Helix Plan through the Attachments section in the Item details. This also contains a list of all files that have already been added to the item.
You can attach files either by uploading a new file directly to the item, or by attaching one that has been previously uploaded to the Helix Plan project.
Uploading a New File
1. Select an item and access the Item details.
2. Add the file by using one of the following methods:
- Drag and drop files or folders directly from a file browser into the Attachments list.
- Right-click within the Attachments section, hover over the Attach documents option and select Browse your computer (and add to Helix Plan).
3. Use the file browser to select the file to add.
The Add files dialog opens.
4. If you are adding one or more folders, you can select Include sub folders and files if you also want to include all sub-folders.
5. Select Rename if file already exists to rename any files whose names match existing files in the current list.
6. You can add Comments, which will appear in the file history.
7. Click OK.
The new files and folders appear in the Attachments list.
Attaching an Existing Helix Plan Document
1. Select an item and access the Item details.
2. Right-click within the Attachments section, hover over the Attach documents option and select Locate them among existing documents inside Helix Plan.
The Attach document to item dialog opens. This interface is similar to the Documents view. See Documents for more information.
3. Use the documents browser to find the existing file.
4. Double-click to the file.
The dialog closes and the selected file appears in the Attachments list.
