Configuring the Jira user in Helix Plan

This topic explains how to integrate Helix Plan with Jira Server. Atlassian is deprecating Jira Server, which means that the Jira Server integration will reach end-of-life soon. If you use Jira Cloud or Data Center, see the Jira integration documentation.

Helix Plan needs information about the Jira user you created for the integration.

1. In Helix Plan, go to the project and click the section to integrate Jira with.

2. Choose More > Customize project integration settings.

The Project Integration Settings dialog box opens.

You must be a main manager in the project to customize project integration settings.

3. Select the Jira project settings category.

4. Select Enable Jira integration.

5. Enter the Jira login information in the Integration settings area.

  • Jira host—URL for the Jira server the integration should connect to. Must start with http:// or https://.
  • Jira user—Username for the Jira user you created for the integration.
  • Jira user password—Password for the specified Jira user.

6. If you want to create ghost users in Helix Plan for all Jira users that cannot be matched to Helix Plan users, select Create ghost users for Jira users that cannot be auto matched in the User settings area.

If a Helix Plan item synced to Jira is assigned to a Jira user and a match is not found in Helix Plan, there is no object on the Helix Plan side to sync with. In Helix Plan, ghost users are user objects that are generally used for planning. They are not full accounts—they cannot log in or perform any actions. If you have more Jira users than Helix Plan users, select this option to create ghost users in Helix Plan for any Jira users that are not found. We recommend selecting this option to ensure that all user information is included in synced items and to avoid ‘missing matching user’ notifications from the integration.

7. If you selected the option to create ghost users, enter the Jira group used for user synchronization.

You can enter an existing group name or a new group name, which will be automatically created in Jira by the integration. You can specify multiple groups. Group names must be separated with a semicolon. For example, Group 1; Group 2.

The Status field displays feedback as you configure the integration. For example, if the username or password is incorrect.

8. Click OK to save the changes.
