Deprecated Features and API

Deprecated features are still included in the product and are still supported. You are advised against using them and the corresponding documentation has been removed from the online and paper manuals. However, that documentation is still available in previous versions of the product, such as Server 4.2.

Static Views

A typical example of deprecated functionality is the “static views” feature. Since Server 5.0, static views are deprecated and the manuals no longer document them. Although the code is still present in the Server libraries and the feature is still supported, we encourage you to upgrade your application to take advantage of the power of dynamic views. Moreover, all the new features and improvements of future versions of Server will be developed on top of dynamic views, not static views.
