Rogue Wave Server 5.1 Release Notes > Licensing

Licensing
Rogue Wave® Server 5.1 depends on the same licensing scheme as Rogue Wave Server 4.2 and 5.0, whereby the licenses are now taken by the server, on the basis of one license for each remote component connection. The only exception to this rule is Rogue Wave Server Studio, which takes a license if you work offline —that is, when you load a model from a file.
Unlike Rogue Wave Server 4.x, Rogue Wave Server 5.0 and 5.1 requires an Rogue Wave Views key and an Rogue Wave Views/Data Access key to run the Server Studio.
When Rogue Wave Server takes a license, it uses ServUser as the default user name, so that a server does not have to wait for the license if the user name changes for each license taken. This behavior can be controlled on a server-by-server basis by setting the environment variable ILS_LIC_USER_NAME as the user name for the license taken.
See the documentation to the Rogue Wave Views License Manager ILM 2.6 for details.
