This sample shows how to use the standalone customizer for a chart.
How to Use the Sample
- Choose a style rule from the "Style Rules" menu. The rules "chart" and "chartArea" deal with general properties of the chart. The rule "chart3D" deals with the 3-D representation properties (also available in the "chart" rule). Then, there are rules for the legend, grids, scales, and the representation of points and series. The "chartGrid" rule provides defaults for both grids ("X Grid" and "Y Grid"). The "chartScale" rule provides defaults for both scales ("X Scale" and "Y Scale"). The "series" rule provides defaults for the individual series.
- Browse through the tabs and change the parameters of the chart to fit your taste.
- Use the "Decorations" menu to add an image decoration or range decoration and parameterize its look.
How to Run the Sample as an Application
This sample can
be run as an application.
The installation directory contains
an executable JAR file,
chartcustomizer.jar,
that allows you to execute the sample with a double click from a
file browser. Note that if you are using Internet Explorer, you can
open the installation directory
and execute the JAR file from the browser. This
technique may not work in other Web browsers.
Alternatively, you
can run the sample application from the command line.
First check that the Ant utility is properly configured. If not, see the
instructions on how to configure Ant for Perforce JViews.
Then, go to the installation directory
of the sample and type:
ant run

Detailed Description
This sample shows how to embed the chart customizer into an application. The customizer is in the lower part of the split pane. It holds controls for modifying the various parameters of the chart displayed in the upper part of the split pane.
Note: This sample does not allow you to save the style sheet (although it would be easy to do so). If you want to customize a chart and save it, without programming, you can use the JViews Charts Designer.
