This sample shows how to place graphic objects on a map.
How to Use the Sample
- Create a polyline using the Polyline Annotation interactor button. You are asked to enter a label and a description. Description can be formatted using HTML tags.
- Change the color of the polyline by selecting the Polyline Annotation layer.
- Change the coordinate system of the map. Items drawn are reprojected.
- Press the Save button. The Map is saved in a temporary file. The save feature is not available in Applet mode.
- Reload the map using the Load button. The load feature is not available in Applet mode.
How to Run the Sample as an Application
This sample can also be run as an application. The installation directory contains an executable JAR file, drawon.jar
, that allows you to execute the sample with a double click from a file browser. Note that if you are using Internet Explorer, you can open the installation directory and execute the JAR file from the browser. This technique may not work in other Web browsers.
Alternatively, you can run the sample application from the command line. First check that the Ant utility is properly configured. If not, see the instructions on how to configure Ant for Rogue Wave JViews.
Then, go to the installation directory of the sample and type:
ant run

Detailed Description
This sample shows how to place graphic objects on a map. The demonstration can place polylines, polygons and point on top of the map of the world. Each kind of object placed on the map can be customized by changing the style of the corresponding layer. Each kind of object have a label and a description property, the label being shown as part of the labeling process and the description being show as a tooltip. Graphic objects are stored in a IlvGraphicLayerDataSource that handles reprojection and persistence of the objects.
