General Changes

• Rogue Wave has aquired JViews
• JViews is now build using Java 8 with target Java 6
• The JViews API documentation have the javadoc 8 capabilities and look & feel
• ICU version 55.1 is now provided with JViews. You must replace all the references to the old library with the new library icu4j-55_1.jar, located in <<Install_dir>>/framework89/lib/external
• Apache Tomcat 7.0.62 is now used for samples & demos
• The Windows installers are signed
• The license policies are update to Rogue Wave
• Dojo Diagrammer is no more included with the JViews distribution
• In CSS files, the interpretation of escape sequences in strings has changed by default. Now Unicode characters can be denoted through the syntax \nnnnn, consisting of a backslash, up to 6 hexadeximal digit characters, and an optional space. This is the same syntax as in W3C CSS. Octal escapes and \a, \b, \f are no longer supported. You can, however, enforce the recognition of octal escapes instead of Unicode escapes (as in previous releases) by setting the variable ilog.views.util.css.IlvCSS.supportUnicodeEscapesInStrings to false.

ilog.views.IlvLinkImage

• Overview of new features:
  • You can now define the link given by an array of points. The first point and last point in the array are the 2 connections points. The other points are intermediate points of the link (JV-5958).
• New methods:
  • getLinkPoints(): Returns the points that define the link, for the identity transformation.
  • setLinkPoints(IlvPoint[]): Sets the points that define the link.

ilog.views.IlvManagerView

• Overview of new features:
  • Extend autofit mode with auto adjustments keeping margin and visible area
• New methods:
  • setAutoFitToContents(boolean, Insets, IlvManagerView.FitAreaCalculator, int): Changes the autofit mode of the view.

ilog.views.diagrammer.IlvDiagrammer

• Overview of new features:
  • You have access to the IlvJScrollManagerView and then you can configure it to your needs.
• New methods:
  • createScrollComponent(IlvSDMView): Creates the scroll component for the SDM view.
  • getScrollComponent(): Returns the scroll component when the SDM view is scrollable.

ilog.views.diagrammer.faces.dhtml.interactor.IlvFacesDiagrammerLinkInteractor

• Overview of new features:
  • Allow JSF Diagrammer Link interactor mouve event modifier to be set accordig documentation.
• New methods:
  • getModifier(): Gets the modifier (used by facelets)
  • setModifier(String): Sets the modifier for adding or removing a point from the selected link.

ilog.views.graphic.IlvTextPath

• Overview of new features:
  • New API to fix JV6495 : “The bounding box of IlvTextPath is wrong for some texts containing spaces”. Deprecate the method getVisualBounds(IlvTransformer t)
• New methods:
  • getVisualBounds(): Returns the visual bounds of this IlvTextPath.

ilog.views.graphlayout.labellayout.IlvLabelLayoutReport

• Overview of new features:
  • Add globalization capabilities for the Label Layout messages.
• New methods:
  • codeToString(int, ULocale): Returns a message string corresponding to the code value that can be obtained by getCode().

ilog.views.sdm.renderer.graphlayout.IlvSwimLanesRenderer

• Overview of new features:
  • Option to manage text orientation inside vertical or horizontal Swimlanes.
• New methods:
  • isLabelRotated(): Returns whether the label is rotated.
  • setLabelRotated(boolean): Sets whether the label is rotated.

ilog.views.util.IlvImageUtil

• Overview of new features:
  • New methods used for full performance optimization in Maps in server side ( IlvManagerServletSupport )
• New methods:
  • getImageSize(Image): Returns the size (dimensions) of an image.
  • writeJPEGImage(BufferedImage, File): Writes an image to the specified file, in JPEG format.
  • writeJPEGImage(BufferedImage, OutputStream): Writes an image to the specified file, in JPEG format.
  • writeJPEGImage(BufferedImage, float, File): Writes an image to the specified file, in JPEG format, with given quality.
  • writeJPEGImage(BufferedImage, float, OutputStream): Writes an image to the specified file, in JPEG format, with given quality.

ilog.views.util.IlvResourceUtil

• Overview of new features:
  • Add globalization capabilities to every resource text message.
• New methods:
  • getBundle(String, Class, ULocale): Returns the resource bundle in the package of the input class.
  • getBundle(String, ULocale, ClassLoader): Returns a resource bundle, examining the available resource suffixes.
  • getSafeString(String, Class, ULocale): Returns a string for the given key from the resource bundle named "messages" in the package of the input class.
  • getSafeString(String, String, Class, ULocale): Returns a string for the given key from the resource bundle in the package of the input class.
  • getString(String, Class, ULocale): Returns a string for the given key from the resource bundle named "messages" in the package of the input class.
  • getString(String, String, Class, ULocale): Returns a string for the given key from the resource bundle in the package of the input class.

ilog.views.util.swing.IlvDecimalNumberField

• Overview of new features:
  • Add getter and setter for double values in IlvDecimalNumberField class.
• New methods:
  • getDoubleValue(): Returns the double value of this text field.
  • setDoubleValue(double): Sets the double value of this text field.

ilog.views.util.swt.IlvSwingControl

• Overview of new features:
  • In IlvSwingControl, the multithread handling of the emulated bridge has changed. This can cause the resizing / layout of controls to look incorrect. To avoid that, it is recommended that for every invocation of "new IlvSwingControl(...)" you override the method getLayoutAncestor, like this:

• New methods:
  • getLayoutAncestor(): Returns the topmost ancestor control that needs to be notified and relayouted if the preferred, minimum, or maximum sizes of the embedded AWT component have changed.
  • preferredSizeChanged(Point, Point, Point): This method gets called when the preferred, minimum, or maximum sizes of the embedded AWT component have changed.

Known issues

Applet technology in demo and samples

Because additional and new constraints can appear from third party providers such as Web browsers , platforms, JDK / JRE and plugins, we do not guarantee all our demos and examples using Applet technology are functional. We advise you to use them in standalone mode when possible.
Applets in samples and code fragments will be removed in the next version of JViews.

Sample / demo using JdbcOdbcDriver cannot run with JDK8 and cannot run in other platform than Windows platform

This is because the JdbcOdbcDriver have been removed from JDK8 (http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/guides/jdbc/bridge.htm ). Samples and code fragments involved:
