The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is an Internet protocol for mail transfer. Detailed information is in RFC 0821, which is available at the Web sites listed in the bibliography. Some architectural information on the SMTP protocol as used in the int library is included in Chapter 19. This chapter provides SMTP-specific design information not covered previously.
