The Post Office Protocol Version 3 (POP3) is an Internet protocol for accessing a mail drop on a server machine dynamically. Detailed information is in RFC 1225, which is available at the Web sites listed in the bibliography. Chapter 19 includes some architectural information on the POP3 protocol as used in the int library. This chapter (Chapter 23) provides POP3-specific design information not covered previously. The information in this chapter applies to both clients and agents.
