Supervised Classification Dialog Box (Image Tool)
Perform supervised classification using the maximum likelihood classifier.
This dialog lets you identify regions within an image, assign each region to a class, and produce a variable containing statistical information on each class. The classification statistics allow similar kinds of regions to be identified and highlighted in other images. For instance, classification statistics might be used to help identify regions of bone, healthy tissue, and diseased tissue in medical images.
To define a classification regions, press MB1 and drag to form an outline around the region.
Training Region—This box lists each defined region and its class value.
Edit Class—This text field lets you change the class number for a selected region. This class number is a pixel value assigned to the class.
Save Class Stats—If this option is selected, the classification statistics are saved in a variable. Enter a suffix for the statistics variable name in the text field provided.
Create New Image—If this option is selected, the processed data is used to create a new image. Enter a suffix for the new image variable name in the text field provided.
Overwrite Image—If this option is selected, the current image is overwritten by the processed data.
Specify Regions—When this button is selected, you can select and edit a region in the Training Region list.
Select Classification Statistics—When this button is selected, you can select a classification statistics variable from the Classification Statistics list box.
Variable Suffix—If the Save Class Stats option is selected, enter a suffix for the new image variable name. This suffix is added to the original variable name.
Variable Suffix—If the Create New Image option is selected, enter a suffix for the new image variable name. This suffix is added to the original variable name.
OK—Perform the classification, and exit the dialog box.
Apply—Perform the classification, but do not exit the dialog box.
Cancel—Dismiss the dialog box without taking any action.
Help—Display online Help on the dialog box.
