Importing Data into a Previously Defined Variable
You must define a PV-WAVE variable before importing the following file types:
*Binary
*Fortran Binary
The variable can be defined in the usual manner at the WAVE> prompt. The variable can also be defined within the WzImport Tool.
To define the variable from within the WzImport Tool, do the following:
1. Click MB1 on the Variables button in the WzImport Tool window. The Variable Manipulation dialog box appears.
If no variables have been defined in your session, the Variable Manipulation dialog box supplies you with a default variable. The default variable is a 2D BYTE variable with both dimensions set to 512.
2. Use the Variable Manipulation dialog box to change the default variable to fit your data file.

note
The variable dimensions should be as close as possible to the expected size of the data you want to import. All of the file types that require defined variables for the import operation will force the imported data into the existing variable size.
3. Import the data file. Click here for the detailed procedure used to import data.
The data file is read into the existing variable, and a message to that effect appears in the message area of the WzImport Tool window.
The variable is renamed as though it had been newly created. The renaming of the variable is important because after the data is read in, both variables exist on the $MAIN$ program level.
