UNIX/Linux Installation

This section explains how to install, unlock, and run PV‑WAVE or JWAVE on a UNIX platform.

Important: Please read the Before installing PV‑WAVE on Linux section carefully for important information on installing PV‑WAVE on Linux.

Note:
  • INSTALLING OVER OLDER VERSIONS OF PV‑WAVE: You should not install this version in a directory structure that already contains a previous version of PV‑WAVE. Instead, we recommend that you either move the previous version to another directory, or install this version in a separate directory.

  • INSTALLATION DIRECTORY: The path to the installation directory should not contain spaces. The installation directory is identified as <RW_DIR> throughout this document.

  • REDUCING THE INSTALLATION DISK SPACE REQUIRED: You can reduce the disk space requirements for installation by deselecting options and features that may not be necessary at your site in the Choose a Product and/or Customize Your Installation window.

After you complete the installation, we recommend that you review the file ownership settings and make changes as appropriate for your site.

Note:
The installation's status bar may not accurately reflect the installation status.

To install PV‑WAVE on a UNIX system, do the following:

  • Execute the installer, pvwave_<version>_<platform>.run, and follow the prompts to install PV-WAVE.

Note:
The installation path should not contain spaces.
