HP Printer Control Language Device Options Dialog Box
Use this dialog box to change the print options for graphics output using a PCL-controlled Hewlett-Packard laser or ink jet printer.
note | When printing from VDA Tools to a PCL device, all output that appears in black in the VDA Tool will appear in white on the printed page (i.e., it will not be visible). |
Orientation—Select either Portrait or Landscape orientation. With portrait orientation, the graphic’s X axis falls along the short dimension of the page. Landscape orientation places the X axis along the page’s long dimension.
Units—Select either Inches, Centimeters, or Pixels. The units you select apply to the Width, Height, Horizontal Offset, and Vertical Offset options on this dialog box.
note | When Pixels is the choice of units, the selected value for Resolution determines how large a region is actually written on the page. |
Dithering Method—Select from the Floyd Steinberg, Ordered, or Threshold dithering methods.
Resolution—Select the print resolution for the PCL printer. PCL supports resolutions of 75, 100, 150, and 300 dots per inch. The default is 300 dpi. Lower resolution gives smaller output files, while higher resolution gives superior quality.
Optimization—Select an optimization method for compressing the output file size and speeding up the I/O transfer to the printer. Choose from None (the default, which is supported by all PCL printers), PCL Optimization, and PV-WAVE Optimization.
Width—Enter the width of the image corresponding to the Units selected.
Height—Enter the height of the image corresponding to the Units selected.
Horizontal Offset—Enter a distance for the horizontal offset that corresponds to the Units chosen. Horizontal offset specifies the displacement of the graphic’s origin, usually its lower-left corner, along the output page’s short dimension.
Vertical Offset—Enter a distance for the vertical offset that corresponds to the Units chosen. Vertical offset specifies the displacement of the graphic’s origin, usually its lower-left corner, along the output page’s long dimension.
OK—Save the PCL printer setups and exit the dialog box.
Apply—Save the PCL printer setups, but do not exit the dialog box.
Cancel—Dismiss the dialog box without taking any action.
Help—Display online Help on the dialog box.
