Scaling Data Values to Available Range of Colors
More often than not, the data to be analyzed has not been previously scaled. The Image Tool automatically scales the range of data values to fit in the range of available color indices in the current color table. The data itself is not changed, just the method for displaying it is.
For 24-bit images and pixel data, the Image Tool automatically expands or compresses the data values to fill a range of colors. You can specify the range of color indices for scaling the data, as follows:
1. In the Controls Area, the Scale image values button is selected as the default. The Minimum value and Maximum value default settings correspond to the first color index and the last color index (respectively) in the image color range.
note | An additional colors (those in the Plot Color table) are available at the bottom end of the Minimum value scale. |
2. You can narrow the range of color indices for scaling by adjusting the Minimum value scale up and/or the Maximum value scale down. You could also increase the color indices range from the default range by adjusting the Minimum value scale lower by any of these three methods.
Double click
MB1 in the
Minimum value slider text field, type the lower index number and then press <Return> to apply the change.
Press and drag MB1 on the slider.
Position the pointer in the slider track and click MB1. The scale slider is adjusted by approximately 10% of the maximum scale value for each MB1 click.
