PostScript Device Options Dialog Box
Use this dialog box to change the print options for PostScript output.
Orientation—Select either Portrait or Landscape orientation. With portrait orientation, the graphic’s X axis falls along the short dimension of the page. Landscape orientation places the X axis along the page’s long dimension.
Units—Select either Inches or Centimeters. The units you select apply to the Width, Height, Horizontal Offset, and Vertical Offset options on this dialog box.
Encapsulation—Select Standard to generate an encapsulated PostScript (EPS) file. Encapsulated PostScript is often used to integrate graphics into technical publishing system documents. Select EPSI to generate an Encapsulated PostScript Interchange file. EPSI files are similar to EPS files, except EPSI includes a bitmap that can be viewed online in desktop publishing and graphics applications.
Color—Select Enabled to produce color PostScript output.
Bits per Pixel—Select 1, 2, 4, or 8 bits per pixel. A higher value allows a greater range of gray tones or colors to be printed, but creates larger data files, which print more slowly. For example, 4 bits per pixel can produce 16 levels of gray, while 8 bits per pixel can produce 256 levels of gray. The default bits per pixel is 4, which gives good results and a large savings in file size.
Width—Enter the width of the image.
Height—Enter the height of the image.
Horizontal Offset—Enter a distance for the horizontal offset. Horizontal offset specifies the displacement of the graphic’s origin, usually its lower-left corner, along the output page’s short dimension.
Vertical Offset—Enter a distance for the vertical offset. Vertical offset specifies the displacement of the graphic’s origin, usually its lower-left corner, along the output page’s long dimension.
Scale Factor—Specify a scale factor for the output. The scale factor allows you to enlarge or shrink the size of the output. For example, a scale factor of 2 doubles the size, and a scale factor of 0.5 shrinks the output by one-half.
note | When you specify the offset for a landscape page in PostScript, the horizontal offset is measured as a displacement along the page’s short dimension, and vertical offset is measured as a displacement along the page’s long dimension. |
OK—Save the PostScript printer setups and exit the dialog box.
Apply—Save the PostScript printer setups, but do not exit the dialog box.
Cancel—Dismiss the dialog box without taking any action.
Help—Display online Help on the dialog box.
