Configuring the Navigator
You can change the configuration of the Navigator in the following ways:
After configuring the Navigator, you can
save your changes in a configuration file, which can be
restored for subsequent Navigator sessions.
note | Navigator configuration files saved under Unix are not compatible with Windows, and vice-versa. This is due to the fact that the entire pathnames of the tool's icon are saved in this file. If you would like your own personal Navigator, and are working in a mixed environment, then the best solution is to save a configuration on each platform in your default directory under the default Navigator Configuration Filename, (found in nav.ads, currently nav-cfg.sav). The algorithm for finding the default file is: On UNIX: Current directory then check HOME environment variable On Windows: Current directory Check HOMEPATH environment variable then Check HOMEDRIVE environment variable then Check WINDIR environment variable then Check !DIR system variable |
The basic steps in configuring the Navigator are:
1. Select Options=>Configure to enable the configuration mode for the Navigator. The Configure menu is now active.
2. Perform the configuration. For example, add or remove VDA Tools, rearrange VDA Tool icons, and change VDA Tool attributes.
3. Save the configuration in a configuration file.
4. Select Options=>Configure to disable the configuration mode and return to the normal Navigator functions.
