HP Graphics Language Device Options Dialog Box
Use this dialog box to change the print options for producing graphics on a wide family of Hewlett-Packard Graphics Language (HPGL) controlled pen plotters.
Orientation—Select either Portrait or Landscape orientation. With portrait orientation, the graphic’s X axis falls along the short dimension of the page. Landscape orientation places the X axis along the page’s long dimension.
Units—Select either Inches or Centimeters. The units you select apply to the Width, Height, Horizontal Offset, and Vertical Offset options in this dialog box.
Page Feed—Select Overplot to plot a new page of graphics over the previous page. Select Use Sheet Feeder if your plotter has a sheet feeder. If your plotter does not have a sheet feeder, the Offline Each Page option places the plotter off-line after each plot, giving you a chance to add new paper manually.
Polygon Filling—Select either By Software or By Hardware. If your plotter hardware can produce filled polygons, you might want to select By Hardware, as it is often the faster of the two options. The By Software option is the default.
note | Different HPGL plotters can have different limits for the number of vertices that can be specified to fill a polygon region before the plotter runs out of memory. Because the HPGL plotter driver does not check the limit before the output is sent to the plotter, some output files can produce an error when they are sent to the plotter. To avoid this problem, try to minimize the number of points used. |
Handshaking—Select Enabled or Disabled. When enabled, this option causes each output page to start with device control commands that instruct the plotter to obey xon/xoff ([Ctrl][S]/[Ctrl][Q]) style flow control.
Eavesdrop Mode—Select Enabled or Disabled. You need to change this setting only if your system is configured with an HPGL plotter connected between the computer and a terminal. In this configuration, called the eavesdrop mode, the plotter ignores everything that is sent to it and passes it through to the terminal. This state continues until the plotter is turned on by an appropriate escape sequence. Then, the plotter executes all input as HPGL commands until another escape sequence turns it off.
If your system is configured for eavesdrop plotting, select Enabled to plot graphics, and the proper device control commands for logically on and off will be generated.
Width—Enter the width of the image corresponding to the Units chosen.
Height—Enter the height of the image corresponding to the selected Units.
Horizontal Offset—Enter a distance corresponding to the Units selected for the horizontal offset. Horizontal offset specifies the displacement of the graphic’s origin, usually its lower-left corner, along the output page’s short dimension.
Vertical Offset—Enter a distance corresponding to the Units selected for the vertical offset. Vertical offset specifies the displacement of the graphic’s origin, usually its lower-left corner, along the output page’s long dimension.
OK—Save the HPGL plotter setups and exit the dialog box.
Apply—Save the HPGL plotter setups, but do not exit the dialog box.
Cancel—Dismiss the dialog box without taking any action.
Help—Display online Help on the dialog box.
