Mac OS X Installation

This section explains how to install, unlock, and run PV‑WAVE or JWAVE on the Mac OS X platform. Please note that throughout the PV-WAVE documentation, when Operating Systems are specified, Mac OS X users should follow the UNIX directions.

note
PV-WAVE was built and tested using XQuartz version 2.7.9. Later versions of XQuartz may be incompatible.

note
To avoid Motif version conflicts on Mac OS X, PV-WAVE statically links the version 2.3.6 Motif library into the PV-WAVE executable. If using inter-application connection methods involving relinking PV-WAVE, you must acquire your own copy of the source code for version 2.3.6 or later of Motif, modify the source code and build it. Instructions for making the modifications and building the library are found in the Linking external applications with PV-WAVE section in order to relink your applications with PV-WAVE.

note

INSTALLATION DIRECTORY: The path to the installation directory should not contain spaces. The installation directory is identified as <RW_DIR> throughout this document.

REDUCING THE INSTALLATION DISK SPACE REQUIRED: You can reduce the disk space requirements for installation by deselecting options and features that may not be necessary at your site in the Choose a Product and/or Customize Your Installation window.
After you complete the installation, we recommend that you review the file ownership settings and make changes as appropriate for your site.

note
