Creating PuTTY Key Files

Private and Public keys used with the Secure Shell (SSH) network stack must be generated using the PuTTY Key Generator.

To create Private and Public keys using PuTTY Key Generator:

1. From the Windows Start menu, select Programs->Perforce-> HostAccess->Tools->PuTTY Key Generator.

2. In the Parameters section, select the required key type.

3. In the Actions section, select the Generate button.

4. Move your mouse over the large blank area until the progress bar reaches the end.

5. Click Save Public Key to save the public key file. This key file should be installed onto the SSH host.

6. Click Save Private Key to save the private key file. This file should be kept securely on the client PC.
