Issue severity
An issue severity is made up of a level from 1 through 10, plus a label such as Warning. Severities are displayed for detected issues in Validate and on the desktop. Each checker has a default severity.
The available severity levels and their default labels are as follows:
- 1 - Critical
- 2 - Error
- 3 - Warning
- 4 - Review
- 5 - Severity 5
- 6 - Severity 6
- 7 - Severity 7
- 8 - Severity 8
- 9 - Severity 9
- 10 - Severity 10
By default, checkers are assigned severities 1 through 4. Custom checkers are assigned severity 4 by default.
You can edit:
- the severity level for individual checkers
- the labels for each severity level
Severity levels for an imported QAC project
Helix QAC defines severity on a scale of 0 to 9, with 9 being the highest. For imported QAC projects, the levels are mapped as follows:
QAC/Validate Severity | Validate Label | Validate Icon |
---|---|---|
0 | QAC-0 | Informational |
1 | QAC-1 | Warning |
2 | QAC-2 | Warning |
3 | QAC-3 | Warning |
4 | QAC-4 | Warning |
5 | QAC-5 | Warning |
6 | QAC-6 | Warning |
7 | QAC-7 | Warning |
8 | QAC-8 | Error |
9 | QAC-9 | Critical |
To set a severity level, add a custom message, and define a help file for user-specified issues, use Helix QAC's User Messages feature. You can view imported user-specified issues by navigating to Configuration > QAC Configuration > Rule Configuration in the Portal.
Limitations:
-
Unconnected projects upgraded from an older version of Validate, or QAC Projects imported from an older version of Validate, will retain the legacy Validate severity levels until a new upload is made from a 2024.2 QAC client or higher.
-
Uploads from an older QAC client (pre 2024.2) will retain legacy Validate severity levels, but a further upload from a 2024.2 client or higher will restore new QAC severity levels.
