Install Validate using the installer on Windows
This section explains how to install the Validate Server package on Windows using the Windows installer.

Run the Validate installer package (for example, p4-validate-installer.25.4.0.5.win64).

Complete the installation process, using the following instructions as guidance:
- Setup: click Next.
- Installation Folder: Specify the installation directory where you want to install Validate, then click Next.
- License Agreement: Select I accept the license, then click Next.
- Configure Validate Servers: Configure the servers for the installation:
- Validate projects_root: Choose a location for the projects_root directory, which is the data location for the Validate Servers and applications. It contains Validate Server settings, information about integration projects, and build analysis runs. It also stores the Validate license file. The default location is
C:\ProgramData\Perforce\Validate. - Server ports configuration: You can specify server port information during installation to override the default settings.
- Click Next.
Do not install the projects_root directory in Program Files; Windows restricts writing there by default. - Validate projects_root: Choose a location for the projects_root directory, which is the data location for the Validate Servers and applications. It contains Validate Server settings, information about integration projects, and build analysis runs. It also stores the Validate license file. The default location is
- Configure License Server: Specify whether you want to use the default locally installed License Server or connect to a remote License Server.
- Select Local to specify the location of your license file, which is then automatically copied into the projects_root/licenses folder. If you choose to manually copy your license file to the projects_root/licenses folder later, the server cannot be started automatically after installation.
- Select Remote to specify the host name and port number for your License Server. This will disable the Windows license service, but you can enable it later if needed.
- (Optional) Select Start Validate Servers as Windows services to automatically start the services after installation.
- Ready to Install: Ensure that you have the disk space required for installation, then click Next.
- Installing: Wait for the installation to complete, then click Next.
- Click Finished to complete the installation.
Do not install Validate in Program Files; Windows restrict writing there by default.
