Authenticating With Validate Using QA·GUI

To authenticate with Validate via QA·GUI, you can either select Portals -> Validate -> Manage Validate Server Authentication menu, or click the icon in the toolbar.

This brings up a connection dialog, where you should enter the address of the Validate server, and your credentials.

The Validate server address is the same as the one you would use to access Validate through a browser. Your Validate administrator should have the details. The default port number is 8080, but this can be different on different sites if it clashes with another application or violates a security policy.

You can ask for the details to be remembered, to simplify your next logon. For security reasons, the password will not be stored.

Connection details are stored separately for each user on the machine. Other users will not be able view your logon credentials.

Once the logon details have been entered, click Authenticate. The Validate server will verify the credentials and if valid it will return a token, which is stored on the local filesystem. This token will remain valid until you explicitly log out of Validate.

Some Validate menu items will remain disabled until Validate is authenticated. If you have a successful authentication and some menu items continue to remain disabled, it may be that you have multiple configurations which are not supported.
