GUI Settings

Access the GUI Settings from the main toolbar in the Perforce QAC perspective when there is an active project. Clicking the GUI Settings icon brings up a dialog with a selection of options that affect some behaviours of the user interface in respect of analysis and progress reporting.

Within the GUI Settings dialog, the Rapid Feedback group is a check box labelled Display results while analysis is underway. This item determines if the progress dialog used during analysis will operate modally or not.

In the Automatic Analysis group are the following options:

  • Analyze after saving a file. Selecting this option invokes analysis upon the user saving a file. Fundamentally, changes to the underlying resource on disk are detected as the trigger mechanism. As such, changes to the active Perforce QAC project from outside the Eclipse IDE also triggers analysis when this option is selected.
  • Eclipse can be configured to prompt a user to reload changes from outside the IDE, ignore them, or automatically load them. This provides additional flexibility for the user to determine if changes affecting the active Perforce QAC project from outside the IDE should invoke analysis or not.
  • Save and analyze following inactivity for <number of seconds>. Selecting this option invokes analysis once the most-recent keyboard edit of an active Perforce QAC file has passed the set inactivity time.
  • Perform a quick analysis when automatic re-analysis may be slow. Selecting this option allows Perforce QAC to dispense with a full analysis of changed files and use a subset of rules that permit the analysis to run much faster. This is mostly useful on large projects where automatic analysis would be cumbersome when used on a repeated basis.
