Delete a stream

The behavior of deleting a stream is different for an administrator than it is for a user who is not an administrator.

If a stream has child streams or is associated with workspaces, you must first delete the child streams and associated workspaces.

Delete a stream

  1. In the Streams tab or Stream Graph tab, right-click the stream you want to delete and select Delete Stream <stream name>.
    1.  If the stream is associated with an active workspace, the Associated Workspaces dialog box notifies you that the stream cannot be deleted. However, on the Workspaces tab, if you right-click the workspace name, you can choose Delete workspace if you own the workspace or are the administrator.
    2.  In the Delete Workspace Form dialog box, click Yes. The workspace is no longer listed.
    3. Delete any other workspaces associated with the stream.
  2. In the Streams tab or Stream Graph tab, if you are the stream owner (the user who created the stream), the stream has files branched to it, and the stream type is release, development, sparsedev or sparserel, the Delete files in the stream dialog box allows you to decide whether to permanently delete stream files.

  3. The Delete stream dialog box offers two options:
    • Delete the stream only
    • Permanently delete the stream its history

      Warning

Only an administrator can use the option to "Permanently delete the stream and its history" because the removal cannot be recovered.

Choose an option and click Delete stream. The workspace is no longer listed.

Delete task streams

Task streams are designed to be temporary and should be unloaded or deleted as soon as the changes have been integrated. With task streams, the unmodified files automatically go away when the stream spec does. For more information, see Task streams and Delete and unload task streams.
