Prepare for disaster recovery

Cyberattacks, natural disasters, power and network outages, and application failures can occur without warning, resulting in damage to systems and data. By having a plan for backup operations and disaster recovery, you can help your organization recover.

P4 Server is responsible for three sets of files: the metadata database, the archive storage (actual file content), and the logs. The server provides the means to create a checkpoint of your database and rotate the journal, and to recover the files by using a checkpoint, journals, or both. For details about the files that should be included in the organization’s backup process and the procedures for restoring and handling failovers, see Backup and recovery.

For additional guidelines about storing checkpoint and rotated journal files in a custom location, see Configuring Checkpoint and Rotated Journal location in Distributed Helix Environments.
